The blade is entirely hand forged with a decorative finial, clay quenched for a differential hardening line (hamon), hand rubbed for a satin finish, and completed with a woven cotton handle wrap sealed with natural shellac, beeswax, and pine resin.

The bladeis entirely hand forged with a decorative finial, clay quenched for a differential hardening line (hamon), hand rubbed for a satin finish, and completed with a woven cotton handle wrap sealed with natural shellac, beeswax, and pine resin.
A hybrid convexed full flat grind, this knife slices exceptionally well yet is also robust enough to carve wood with ease. The wrapped portion of the handle is long enough to accomodate the conventional 3 finger hold for small knives yet the finger choil and decorative scrolled finial extend the effective grip length to a four-and-a-half finger hold for medium sized hands and a full grip for small hands.
A chamfered spine adds comfort when carving using thumb support and additional structural integrity by removing stress risers.
The included sheath is hand sewn and hardened the traditional Cuir Bouille method giving it a wood-like durability and excellent knife retention. Sealed with beeswax and pine resin, the sheath is fully waterproof and will not soak moisture.
