Forge Building and Basic Blacksmithing Class

We will be building simple pit forges, implementing many of the same methods common to tribal blacksmiths in Iron Age Africa that are still used today.

Using earth, clay, water and ashes we will construct our forges then fire them up the traditional way using flint and steel. Students will then have the opportunity to hand craft a variety of simple projects designed to teach the fundamentals of blacksmithing.

In this workshop, you will:

• Construct your own primitive ground forge
• Learn basic blacksmithing techniques with simple tools
• Hand craft your own steel accessories

*Children 12 and under may share a project with a registered adult at a reduced price.

Learn the ancient art of redsmithing and forge copper into accessories for both beauty and utility.

Bladesmithing I

This is our introductory class to Primitive Bladesmithing. Students learn the foundation of hand forging blades by making small whittling knife.
