Traditional Knife Hafting
Revisit traditional methods of fitting knife blades that artisans of the past used without modern glues, plastic finishes, and high powered machinery. Haft your bare blade with a traditional stacked wood and leather handle, using simple hand tools for both beauty, comfort, and a personalized touch.
Your knife’s handle forms the critical transition from your arm and hand to the cutting edge of your blade. Custom shaping and fitting your handle to your hand’s unique shape and characteristics is key to creating the perfect bushcraft/survival knife.
Missed our Primitive Bladesmithing Intensive? You can either bring your own bare blade (hidden tang construction) or commission a custom high carbon steel blade to be hand forged for you. (VERY limited quantities available)
In this workshop, you will:
- Design your own custom knife handle
- Create a unique stacked wood and leather design
- Use traditional methods to achieve a tight friction fit
- Seal and polish your custom handle for beauty and lasting durability

Cancellation and Refund Policies
A great deal of staff time and expense is invested into the preparation and organization of individual classes. It is difficult and oftentimes impossible to recover costs and/or find a student to replace a cancelled registrant and so our cancellation and refund policies reflect this. Full refunds, minus $15 administrative fee for single day classes and a $30 admin fee for multi-day classes, are given to registrants who cancel with at least 7 days notice of the event. Cancellations made less than 7 days of the event forfeit a refund.
