The Ancient Art of Redsmithing
Learn to forge copper into accessories for both beauty and utility. Copper and other soft metals such as gold and silver that were readily available in many places throughout the world in their natural, native states, and were often used concurrently with Stone Age technology.
Single Day Coppersmithing & Forge Building Class
Join us this introduction to Coppersmithing class. Students will learn to build their own ground forge and then fire it up and hand craft a copper project. In this workshop, you will:
- Construct your own primitive ground forge
- Learn to cold forge non-ferrous metals
- Understand the principles of work hardening and annealing copper
- Hand craft one or more coppersmithing projects including, jewelry, a copper cloak pin (pennanular brooch) or copper bowl
*Children 12 and under may share a project with a registered adult at a reduced price.
